I need help in setting up a security framework for my PC?

I am basically looking at a combination of a Really Good AntiVirus, Firewall and Anti-Spyware.

I am looking for products that are free but very reliable.

I currently have downloaded the Google Pack, So I have

- Ad Aware

- Norton Anti Virus 2005 - This is really Slow to Scan and Dowload updates.

Additionally I have downloaded SpyBot. I read somewhere that you can have Ad Ware %26 SpyBot Co-Exist without any isuues.

But Still I am looking at having a proper framework in place.

Please suggest the combination of AntiVirus, Firewall and Anti-Spyware that can work seamlessly.

cdrw drive really should be dvd/cd rw minimum. You won't even be able to watch movies on this thing without upgrading

Keep getting message from Spy Sweeper that adware.gen %26 trojan.gen are trying to install on my computer, but I can't get rid of them because I don't have full version (only free version)! Get those A LOT! Also W32/SelfStarterInternet Trojan!Maximus found during antivirus scan (still going after almost 3 hours) and the icon for the antivirus is flashing red! Windows(C) Security Registry keeps sending me message that they encountered a problem and need to shut down. I've tried to install AVG and other such programs, but keep getting error messages during installation! What is going on!! I just reinstalled Windows XP about a week ago %26 everything was fine! I am doing a RegCure scan right now that I just installed %26 it's finding lots of stuff! Any other suggestions that I could do? I also installed Hi-Jack This and will post the log in additional details....Thanks!

Download and install Windows Defender

That should help remove some of that stuff. You should also install something like Mcafee firewall. If you have Comcast, Mcafee is free to download.

Well first of all, this is an xbox 360 rom, so either 1. you are planning on trying to run it on a computer, which is basically impossible, 2. you are trying to burn it onto a disc to run in a 360, which is also impossible, 3. you are going to run it on a modded 360, which is the only possible option, or 4. you're looking for a c.d. by the band ''The Darkness'', in which case you will have to find that on your own. =P So, we'll start with the torrent client. The one I use is Bitcomet, which you can download from their official website here:

Once you download and install it, and restart the computer, fire it up, click on the name of the darkness torrent, and it should start downloading. Before you start downloading it though, there are a few settings you may have to change, such as router settings (which can get complicated), and where you want you downloads to go, such as c: bitcomet%26gt;downloads (that's where mine download to). I just want to know if there is a free program out there that will tell me what files on the computer i need and what ones i don't i have entirely way to much on it and have deleted what i could but it takes hours for my antivirus to run and my adware scan the same. XP comes with disk cleanup (found in Start-%26gt; Programs-%26gt;Accessories-%26gt;System Tools). After you do this, you want to close all running programs, especially those with icons beside the clock in the lower right-hand corner. Then run Disk Defragmenter (also found in the same place as disk cleanup). This will help your hard drive run more smoothly and faster.
whats needed and whats not is totally dependant on what you use the computer for.. the best thing i can think of is if you go to control panel, and add / remove programs.. it will tell you how often each program is used, and when the last time you used it was

hi mate

most of these answers are basically the same,for example running the msconfig utility will only speed up your start up times but not your actual p.c,s performance

and removing old files and temporary folders will free up space but not increase speed

the only sure fire way to improve your systems speed is a increase in memory,i have recently increased my system ram from 1gb to 2gb and trust me it runs so much better,and it makes using the p.c more enjoyable were as before it became a drag waiting for programs to finish

so upgrading your memory will improve the p.c,s speed but the system crashes still need investigation

most of the time system crashes are due to hardware,for example a corrupt memory module or even a hard drive thats on its way out,i have even suffered system crashes due to a faulty ide cable,this happened for a 3 month period and even mates couldnt diagnose the problem

however since the problem occured when i inserted a dvd/cd disk,i decided one day to replace the dvdrw and as i removed the ide cable the plastic slave connector on the ide cable literally fell to bits in my hand,so a 拢2-50 replacment and the problem was sorted
