I've just bought a new Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop with windows XP. It came with a free Norton Antivirus trial installed. I've been trying to download free game trials from Yahoo but it never gets past about 50% of the download. I've tried turning off the firewall temporarily but that doesn't seem to help. Is there another setting I need to adjust?

Firewalls are an on/off thing. If the firewall was the problem you would get 0% of the download, not 50%. Please turn it back on before you make matters worse.
Is it a dial-up connection? How long are you downloading before it fails? Do you have to redial the connection afterwards? What posessed you to buy a new laptop with an old version of Windows?
