What are some essential computer software that every person should have?

I'm about to build a pc for my brother (who lives in another state) and would like to know what software I should install to keep his computer running in top shape, or even programs that are useful, such as paint/pic viewing/burning software, freeware preffered

So far I have:

1. Grisoft AVG Free Edition - (antivirus)

2. Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal - (spyware remover)

3. Spybot Search and Destroy - (spyware remover)

4. Videolan - (plays most video formats)

5. Winrar/Winzip

6. CDburner XPpro 3 - (iso, music, file burning software)
