Machine is very slow. how can I get ride of it?

my machine is not bad specified. intel celeron 2.43ghz speed. memory (512+256=)768mb, hdd 40gb. antivirus AVG free versiton OS XP. after upgrading ram (512mb) it is stiill running like previous. disk cleanup, degragmentaion done. still no improve. one thing is I have left less than 1gb free space in C drive. most of the time cpu usage is aroung 100%, what would be the possisble cause for this slow going. if cpu usage is the problem how can i use cpu usage efficently. pls help.

1.You must have at least 35% of your C: free. So, transfer all the music, video and image files to other drives.

2.Constant CPU usage over 80% is not good for the computer and will naturally slow it down. I guess your computer is infected with spyware, as you have not mentioned the use of an anti-spyware. You can get both these anti-spyware (free-to-use), update them and run a full system scan.
