My computer is slow and alots of pop-ups?

Can please someone help me tell me what could with wrong my computer. It is slow and also when ever I open any internet page I get like 4 to five pop-ups with the page . Any free website where i can download pop-ups blocker and also antivirus protect like norton. I had norton before i lost it and i don't want to spend another $80 for new one. Can please someone tell me where i could get free software for protecting my computer. My computer was fast before now it is just slow

Your machine is infected. Pop-ups are mostly caused by adware, spyware, and other malicious and unwanted software and using pop-up blocker won't help an infected PC. No single program can detect and eradicate all spyware and I recommend using Ad-aware and Spybot (they are free). Other great free anti-spyware programs would be Super anti-spyware and AVG anti-spyware (formally Ewido).
