First thing's first...do you have a Vista Home or an Windowx XP Home edition with a SP. Also you need to pull down the VM size from over 3 GIG to just about 1 GIG as thats what your system will support. You need to understand at a time the OS total memory capacity can be written to the Virtual Mem. i.e. If my system is has 1 GB of RAM, i need a VM size of 1GB itslef as that the maximum paging size the OS will sopport.

Try installing Service Pack 1 from Microsoft.

Get it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...
Turn off Aero for one thing. You are pushing the limits it looks like.

Try system file checker and see if that helps.

Does it work in Safe Mode

In my case it was because I had upgraded from XP to Vista and the

%26gt; install process had left a key in the registry that was causing

%26gt; problems, I deleted the registry key and the problem appears to be

%26gt; solved.

%26gt;

%26gt; The key that I deleted was HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows

%26gt; \CurrentVersion\explorer\ShellIcons

%26gt;

%26gt; remove the entire Shellicons key, but remember hacking your registry

%26gt; might knacker your machine!
